Several of you have written us to ask that we reconsider this decision We have Tech Man Subscriber apologizes for any misunderstanding that has arisen due to our recent to have our technical information removed from the Tech Man web site You appreciate that one of our key concerns is to provide installing security dealers with and accurate information on our products and we were concerned about the data to the Tech Man web site For obvious reasons we also do not wish unauthorized to have access to information on installing and configuring ADEMCO These concerns were what prompted us to ask Tech Man to stop posting installation instructions and user manuals will not require Tech Man to remove the ADEMCO data ADEMCO however is responsible for the operation and maintenance of this site thus we cannot guarantee timeliness or accuracy of the information posted on the Tech Man web site data about our products You may request a PIN number for access to the Technical Support web site and FAXBACK system you need assistance on troubleshooting or if you have other technical questions our products not addressed in the information posted at our web site please contact Technical Support at INSTRUCTIONS INFORMATION 4297 polling loop extender module is an accessory for use Ademco control panels supporting polling loop devices 4297 module receives signals from the control panel via input polling loop and then re transmits boosted copies these signals via its extension polling loop The 4297 draws power for its internal circuitry and its polling loop from a supplementary power supply as the control panel cid 213 s auxiliary power output or from an Ademco 1321 16.5VAC 25VA and an external 12v lead acid battery no is drawn from the control panel cid 213 s polling loop the 4297 can isolate open and short circuit faults on its extension polling loop from its input polling These characteristics allow the 4297 module to be to extend the control panel polling loop to provide polling loop current or to provide electrically polling loops The 4297 module is fully supervised and causes the control to trigger supervision fault indications for devices to the extension polling loop when operating power to module fails or when an open or short circuit occurs on extension polling loop Refer to the control panel instructions for the type of supervision fault provided The 4297 module has a cut jumper option for selecting or not extension polling loop shorts are to be from the input polling loop extension polling loop shorts are the jumper intact from the input polling loop Leave the jumper in if you do not want to disrupt the control panel ability communicate with devices wired to the input loop because of a short on the extension loop the jumper cut extension polling loop are not isolated from the input loop and will communications with devices on the input loop Cut this jumper only when it is desired have the control panel provide a polling loop indication as well as supervision fault for devices wired to the extension loop when the extension polling loop is that some control panels may not have the to provide polling loop short indications to the control panel Notes The 4297 cannot be used to increase the number of loop zones supported by the control panel The 4297 is not designed to be used in a Class A loop wiring configuration The 4297 may not be powered from the No 1321 and an external lead acid battery for burglary and all fire installations UL burglary and all fire installations the 4297 module inside a UL Listed enclosure such as control panel enclosure Note that the enclosure must UL Listed for the desired application i e use an attack enclosure with a tamper switch for commercial applications non UL certified installations powered from the 1321 transformer and external mount the 4297 and battery in an enclosure When from a supplementary power supply a separate is not required the 4297 module directly on a surface using the holes located on the back of its housing mounting provided Feed the wires through the slot on the side through the breakout located on the back of the housing the connections label provided to the inside of the 4297 cover SETTING WIRING CONNECTIONS 4297 module provides a 9 position terminal block for power earth ground and polling loop connections screw terminal assignments on this terminal block are in Figure 1 Jumper Option the blue option jumper shown in Figure 1 ONLY when is NOT desired to isolate extension polling loop shorts from input polling loop to the GENERAL INFORMATION section for more 4297 module can draw power for its internal circuitry its extension polling loop from a supplementary power such as the control panel auxiliary power output Figure 2 power can be provided from an Ademco No 1321 25VA transformer and an external 12V lead acid See Figure 3 Loop Connections When Using One 4297 one 4297 to extend the polling loop to provide additional loop current or to provide an extension loop which is isolated from the input loop the connections shown in Figure 4 when only one 4297 is used Make sure that the wire run length limits in Figure 4 are not exceeded Loop Connections When Using Two 4297s two 4297s to provide two extension loops which are isolated from each other or to provide more than one 4297 can supply the connections shown in Figure 5 when two 4297 are used Do not wire 4297 modules in series i e not wire one module cid 213 s extension loop to another module cid 213 s loop Do not use more than two 4297 modules in unless otherwise stated in the control panel instructions Make sure that the wire run length indicated in Figure 5 are not exceeded Notes Twisted pair is recommended for all polling loop wire runs If an intercom system is being used keep the polling loop as far from the intercom wiring as possible 6 inches If this spacing cannot be achieved use wire Note that use of shielded wire reduces the permissible polling loop wire run length as in Figures 4 and 5 RUN LENGTH NOT EXCEED LENGTH 100 FT 150 FT 225 FT 375 FT A CLASS II POWER POWER SUPPLY IS UL LISTED FOR DESIRED FIRE AND OR APPLICATION THE POWER INSTRUCTIONS BACKUP AND
