assigned during The QED control unit is required to the transmitter ID at some point prior to its in the alarm system Refer to the QED control installation instruc tions for further details Note programming of the QED control unit 5816MN should be treated as RF i e supervised Type mandatory for UL installations 5816MN can send two unique codes the first for a closed circuit contact loop and the second for its reed switch used in conjunction with a magnet described below A wired loop and or reed switch be used For UL installations a contact may not more than 3 feet from the transmitter 5816MN includes a built in cover tamper which is when the cover is removed proper orientation of the unit in relation to the plate loop wiring and or magnet read all of section before installing the unit description that follows assumes that the unit will mounted as shown in the diagrams with the magnet used located in one of the positions shown in Figure The unit may however be installed in any direction long as the relationship of the unit to its mounting and if used magnet is maintained the unit can be mounted directly to a surface is recommended that the mounting plate be used for in removing the unit for servicing should it necessary mounting the transmitter permanently conduct Go tests see QED control instructions to adequate signal strength and reorient or relocate transmitter if necessary Remove the transmitter cover by inserting the blade of a small screwdriver into the pry off slot the end of the unit farthest from the cover ribs see Fig 2 for location and twist the blade Disengage the supplied mounting plate from unit by inserting the blade of a small screw TAB PRY OFF MAGNET MARKS CASE MAX TERMINALS 1 ENTRY HOLE BACK OF CASE FOR WIRING POSITION FOR Figure 2 case holding pointing up in this example in the location as described in the QED control unit instruc tions Use the flat head screws If a wired contact loop is to be used with wiring the wire exit hole in the should be in the location shown in 1 and no more than 1 4 in a wired contact loop is to be used feed wiring through the slot in the case back do not connect to the ter minal block yet For wiring entry a thin breakout area is in the case wall see Fig 2 for location Attach the case back to the mounting plate by the key hole slots in the case back down the mounting plate case holding or adjacent to bottom of the case see Fig 2 WIRING CONNECTIONS If used the battery still not inserted connect the contact wires to the unit loop terminals see Fig 2 Make sure that the bared sections of the wires do not short to the reed switch contact loop must use closed circuit devices The response time is a nominal 100mSec If the contact loop is not to be used no is needed across the loop terminals INSTALLATION REPLACEMENT Remove the transmitter cover if it is not al off as de scribed in MOUNTING Step 1 Observe correct polarity and insert the battery into the battery holder see Fig 2
