PC4401 v1.0 Printer PC LINK Isolator DataLink Module Application Guide This manual contains information on limitations product use and function and information on the as to liability of the system DVACS communications printer module PC LINK isolator interface for 3rd party applications DataLink module manual assumes that you will be using the PC4401 a printer module PC LINK isolator or DataLink mod If you will be using the module for DVACS please the PC4401 Installation Manual DVACS version Module you use the PC4401 as a printer module you can it to a local serial printer so that the system can out event information Isolator Module you need a permanent PC LINK connection between the computer and the PC4020 system use the as a PC LINK isolator module The module does need to be enrolled if you use it as a PC LINK isolator you use the PC4401 this way you must mount the mod in the same cabinet at the PC4020 control panel Module DataLink option allows you to connect an interface a compatible 3rd party computer application the PC4020 system Refer to the documentation with 3rd party application for more information I n t r o d u c t i o n Input 12VDC via Combus connection Normal current draw of 35 mA Tamper and Trouble reporting codes as a printer or DataLink module Four wire QUAD hook up to Combus Low Combus supervision to main control panel True RS 232 technology Protocol DTR Five possible Baud rates 300 600 1200 2400 or 4800 Maximum cable length 10 feet 3 meters the PC4401 PC4401 package includes the following parts One PC4401 circuit board Four plastic stand offs RS 232 cable and DB 25 adapter 4 pin PC LINK connector Mini DIN cable not included Mounting the Cabinet mounting a new cabinet for the PC4401 select a location If the PC4401 will be a printer module a location close to the serial printer If the PC4401 be a DataLink module select a location close to the running the 3rd party application mount the cabinet From the back of the cabinet press in the four white board stand offs into the raised mounting holes Holding the cabinet in position pull all wiring into cabinet through the hole in the back Using the provided mounting screws and appropriate anchors mount the cabinet securely to the wall Press the PC4401 module onto the plastic stand offs DVACS is a registered trademark of Electro Arts Limited use with the DLS 3 System Administration Software Wiring the PC4401 as a Printer or DataLink beginning to wire the unit ensure that all power transformer and battery is disconnected from the panel the following steps to complete wiring Connect the four Combus wires to the PC4401 Con the red black yellow and green Combus wires the RED BLK YEL and GRN terminals respec Connect terminals T1 and T2 to a normally closed switch If no tamper switch is desired con a jumper wire between T1 and T2 terminals Consult Diagram 1 below for more information 1 Connecting the PC4401 as a Printer or DataLink Module DataLink is not a UL nor ULC Listed feature Wiring the PC4401 as a PC LINK Isolator beginning to wire the unit ensure that all power transformer and battery is disconnected from the panel the following steps to complete wiring Connect the AUX and AUX Combus wires of the panel to the RED and BLK terminals on the Consult Diagram 2 below for more information I n s t a l n g t h e P C 4 4 0 1 2 Connecting the PC4401 as a PC LINK Isolator Module Applying Power all wiring is completed apply power to the control Connect the battery leads to the battery then con the AC transformer For more information on con panel power specifications see the control panel Manual Do not connect the power until all wiring is PC Link Isolator is not a UL nor ULC Listed feature the Module you will be using the PC4401 as a printer or DataLink you must enroll it with the PC4020 If you will be using the PC4401 as a PC LINK DO NOT enroll the PC4401 Enter installer programming by pressing 8 Code Scroll to Hardware and press the key Scroll to Module and press the key Scroll through the different modules until is displayed Press the key The message Tamper on Desired Unit will displayed To create the required tamper secure tamper zone on the module and then open it The from secure to violated enrolls the module this is done the keypad will display the mod number and will confirm enrollment e g Mod 01 Enrolled more information regarding module enrollment see control panel Installation Manual the Module If you will be using the PC4401 as a PC LINK iso you will not need to do any programming for it access PC4020 programming enter 8 followed by Installer code The sections you will need to pro are described below For more information regard programming see the control panel Installation PC4401 module programming sections are located in System Area section under the PC44XX options you have entered installer programming enter indicated reference number OR use the keys scroll through the programming options on the LCD and press to select the desired option following explains each programming option rele to the PC4401 Rate 000800XX00 where XX PC4401 module no section is used to program which Baud rate the serial interface module will use to communicate a serial printer The Baud rate is the speed at which will be transmitted from the PC4401 module the serial printer There are five different Baud rates to the PC4401 module 300 600 1200 2400 and Baud If you are experiencing problems with miss characters try lowering the Baud rate Module Function 000800XX00 where XX PC4401 module no this section you must select which function you want PC4401 to perform Printer DVACS or DataLink use the PC4401 as a printer module you must select Printer option in this section Scroll to the message then press use the PC4401 as a DataLink module you must select DataLink option in this section Scroll to the message then press use the PC4401 as a PC LINK isolator module leave programming of this section at the default setting You may only program one function for each module control panel always watches for possible trouble If a trouble condition occurs the keypad light will turn on and the keypad will beep Q 2 to display the trouble conditions following trouble conditions apply to the PC4401 For a description of all troubles please see your Installation Manual Reporting codes for these can be
