Series System is a fully digital distributed intelligence Life Safety System comprised of intelligent smoke and heat detectors bases input output modules and ancillary devices IRC 3 FCC networks support Signature Series operation through the Signature Loop Controller ZAS 2 The ZAS 2 Card uses one 1 option card slot in the CM1 N or CM2 N control panel Series smoke and heat detectors are intelligent addressable devices that contain their own which allow them to make alarm decisions based on the collective information gathered up to three 3 independent sensing elements Each of these detectors may be connected to any of 3 types of bases Standard Relay or Isolator Relay bases provide a 30 VDC 1.0 Amp pilot duty contact relay which may be used to control external appliances Isolator bases protect the ZAS 2 from wiring shorts Series modules are intelligent addressable devices that interface to and support the operation initiating devices and indicating appliances such as conventional 2 wire smoke and heat detectors pull stations strobes bells etc Signature Series also includes modules that are capable of and or controlling fans and dampers in HVAC systems The actual function performed by each is determined by the personality code that is downloaded to the module via the ZAS 2 Card the Signature Series Data Entry Program Signature Series manual pull station is equipped with its own module which supervises the station Series offers both 1 stage and 2 stage manual pull stations One stage stations are supervised a single input module which sends an alarm signal to the loop controller when the pull switch is Two stage stations are supervised by a dual input module which sends a pre alarm signal to control panel when the pull switch is activated and sends an alarm signal when the keyswitch is devices such a Remote LED and Duct Detector Mounting Plate are also available What is the Signature Series Applications Guide Signature Series Applications Guide is specifically designed to help Architects and Specifying understand how Signature Series devices can be used in various applications This guide is in the respect that it is organized by application rather than by component This allows the reader quickly locate the application of interest without requiring extensive foreknowledge of which will be required to complete the job The required components are listed along with each drawing theory of operation for Signature Series smoke and heat detectors bases and modules is also in this guide A strong understanding of these devices operate will help you in the design your fire alarm system order to provide applications drawings that show detailed solutions to YOUR projects requirements will continually add new applications to this guide YOUR comments taken from our training classes support phone calls and field trips will determine the kind of applications that will be included in revisions The applications contained in the guide are intended to show some of the possible They may or may not show all of the components that are required for a functional Codes Standards Relevant to Installation Signature Series fire detection devices are designed to meet the requirements of NFPA Standard 1993 Edition Underwriters Laboratories Inc Standard 864 7th Edition and Underwriters of Canada Inc Standard ULC S527 Other related codes and standards are listed below contained in this document is intended to serve as a guide Installation in accordance with the sheets provided with Signature Series devices applicable
