is a way to link MPC 6000 or MPC 7000 Fire Alarm Control units RND 2 Remote Displays and printers together to form a network MPC 6000 and MPC 7000 Firmware version 3.0 or higher required to be running on each panel A total of 99 Network Interface Boards NIBs can be connected on a Wiring wire is to be UL listed Category 5 or better cable rated for the type of installation The network is wired from to node in a daisy chained ring configuration for Style 7 operation The network side of the NIB has 2 ports 1 reverse direction is an isolated port and port 2 forward direction is a non isolated port Port 2 of a NIB must wired to port 1 of the next NIB The network signals are regenerated at each NIB allowing a maximum distance of between NIBs when using Category 5 wire The NIB must be mounted in the same room as the RS232 serial it is connecting to All panel to NIB wiring is to be in conduit the NIB is connected to a NIB in another building using Category 5 wire each of those 2 NIBs requires an inline protector to meet National Electrical Code requirements to the installation and wiring diagrams for more details Converters is possible to convert one or both of the network ports of an version NIB to use fiber media instead of Category wire with the use of optional fiber converters 12535 or 12536 Each converter converts one port of the NIB to fiber There is a converter for single mode fiber and one for multimode fiber The converters plug directly into onto the NIBs Different media types can be mixed on the same NIB A maximum of 2 media types can be per NIB multimode converter 12535 is designed to use duplex 62.5 125 multi mode fiber cable with ST connectors single mode converter 12536 is designed to use duplex 9 125 single mode fiber cable with SC connectors maximum loss allowed between each NIB with fiber converters is 10dB Versions NIB communicates with the attached device it is connected to through an RS232 port The NIB must also be by a MPC 6000 MPC 7000 or RND 2 for 24VDC are three versions of NIBs 12523A is a NIB designed to connect to a serial port on an MPC 6000 MPC 7000 or RND 2 12526A is a NIB with an isolated RS232 port It is designed to connect to printers and any computers on network 12603A is a NIB designed to connect to a serial port on an MPC 6000 or MPC 7000 and mount inside the It is electrically the same as a 12523A Each piece of equipment connected to the network requires a NIB Part No A A A By A A A Current Draws Part No A A By A A 315 049594 1 Connecting NIBs panel should be running and free of troubles and alarms before attempting to connect to the network When are free of troubles and alarms proceed to the Panel NIB configuration section Numbering total of 99 NIBs can be connected on a network Addresses 1 thru 99 are to be used for MPC 6000 MPC 7000 Remote Network Displays printers and computers used as simple terminals to log network events Configuration wiring connections refer to the installation and wiring diagrams for the 12523A or 12603A following configuration data for the NIB is entered in the tech level network options setup of the panel it is to This includes Enabling the network connection to the panel Setting the Node 1 99 Entering the total number of nodes 1 99 on the network Display network LINK alarms 1 yes 0 no For RND 2 only Setting this option to 0 allows device alarms to be displayed but prevents the RND 2 from all of the resulting panel alarms that occur as a result of a device in a network LINK into alarm This setting helps identify the specific source of the alarm on the RND 2 display a more timely manor All network messages are still stored in the RND 2 event history following configuration data for the NIB is entered in the tech level system parameters setup of the panel it is to Enable global commands 1 yes 0 no Enabling global commands allows the panel to be controlled from a network annunciator i e RND 2 Send global commands 1 yes 0 no For RND 2 only NIB configuration data is passed from the panel to the NIB at power up and reset of the panel Configuration wiring connections refer to the installation and wiring diagrams for the 12526A a NIB is connected to a printer it must first be configured to operate in the unsupervised mode To configure a NIB operate in the unsupervised mode it RS 232 port must be connected to a RS 232 on a computer running the software version 3.00 or higher and running the NIB pr
