coverage protection achieved installing a smoke alarm in every room of your home The National Protection Association NFPA MINIMUM requirement for locat smoke alarms in family living units is detailed in NFPA Standard Chapter 2 It reads as follows Smoke detectors shall be installed outside of each separate area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each addi story of the family living bed dining room furnace room utility room and hallways not pro by the required smoke detectors the California State Fire Marshal states that the minimum number required smoke alarms is not enough to give the earliest warning under conditions The California State Fire Marshal states that warning fire detection is best achieved by the installation of fire equipment in all rooms and areas of the household as follows smoke detector installed in each separate sleeping area in the vicinity outside the bedrooms and heat or smoke detectors in the living dining rooms bedrooms kitchens hallways
