Installation Instructions SZM Conventional Zone Module Model SZM from Siemens Building Technologies Inc is an intelligent device that a single zone of conventional devices to an FDLC device loop of an FS 250C The SZM can power up to fifteen compatible 2 wire ionization or photo smoke detectors or it can power one PB 1191 Beam Detector It can also an unlimited number of shorting devices such as waterflow switches thermal manual stations etc SZM can be assigned a custom message using the FS CT2 tool Refer to the Programming Manual P N 315 049403C The alarm verification configuration used only for non shorting detectors SZM supports Class A and Class B wiring The module uses one address on the loop It does not require any mechanical address programming Use the Device Programming Unit to program and test the module 1 Module And Indicators SZM has a multicolor LED visible through the cover plate which indicates the of the circuit This multicolor LED displays red for alarm yellow for trouble green for normal operation See Figure 1 The Module Address the SDPU Device Programming Unit plug the programming cable the programming points on the SZM See Figure 1 the address for the SZM by following the instructions in the SDPU P N 315 033260C 315 034850C 4 Building Technologies Safety all system power before installation first battery then AC To power up the AC first then the battery Connections you have set the SZM address connect the field wiring There are three basic to the SZM initiating devices FDLC device loop and 24 VDC power All are power limited Devices 2 3 and 4 SZM supports one zone of initiating devices in either Class A or Class B The devices are connected to terminals 5 on the SZM terminal block The is a polarity insensitive module and terminals 1 and 2 can be connected to line of the FDLC Device Loop Figure 2 shows the Class A wiring Figure 3 the Class B wiring D A Wire minimum 18 AWG ohms Max Supervised power limited to 70 per NEC 760 Voltage 24VDC of at least 3 inches When the field wiring for the initiating devices device loop and 24 VDC is press the SZM into the box and fasten it with the four screws a dress bezel if necessary making sure that the ALARM LED is with the hole in the bezel devices in Table 1 are listed for use with the SZM up to fifteen detectors any combination of those listed one PB 1191 and no additional devices can be connected an SZM operated accessories cannot be used with the SZM model numbers listed are the UL compatibility identifiers RATINGS Building Technologies Ltd Kenview Boulevard Ontario L6T 5E4 Canada
