QSimplex Detector Tester Simplex Heat Detector Tester is used to test rate of rise heat detectors TO a heat detector follow Steps 1 through 13 below tester uses a 12 VDC 6.2AmpEIr maximum rechargeable battery not Refer to the chart below for more information on other parts The will indicate a low battery condition by rapidly beeping during a test No Heat Detector Tester Assembly Bulb Control Unit Carefully remove globe assembly from the packing material one end of the 12 ft cord into the appropriate socket on the tester the other end into the appropriate socket on the tester control unit Connect tester control unit battery connectors to the battery terminals red to red terminal blue wire to black terminal Determine the approximate height of heat detector to be tested Attach appropriate extender pole not supplied to the base of the globe see Figure 1 Base Pa 1 Extender Pole Attachment 1996 Simplex Time Recorder Co Gardner MA 01441 COO1 USA specifications other were current as of publication are subject change without notice A To extend pole press in and hold the red button on the pole Extend pole to correct height then release the button Pole will lock Carefully place globe assembly over heat detector see Figure 2 Detector 2 Tester Placement Switch the TEST RESET lever to the TEST position and release green TEST ON LED illuminates Hold the tester over heat detector for one full minute maximum this one minute test period the following will happen After 45 seconds the green TEST ON LED extinguishes The heating bulb extinguishes The yellow STAND BY LED illuminates tester beeps If the heat detector registers an alarm at the fire panel within the first 45 of the test you may abort the test by switching the TEST RESET to RESET heat detector tester has a mandatory one minute after which you may use the tester again The cool down period damage to the fixed heat element of the detector Clean the globe assembly with a lint free cloth and isopropyl alcohol when ASSE A
