are no additional currents for accessories in standby RTS451 RTS451KEY when the magnet is held in place to initiate an alarm output maximum load is 80 mA auxiliary alarm output maximum load is 20 mA Relay Contacts contact current must be greater than 500 mA at 24 VDC amps maximum at 30 VDC amps maximum at 250 VAC Installing thoroughly read the System Sensor Manual I56 473 Guide for Proper Use of Smoke Detectors in Duct which provides detailed information on spacing placement zoning wiring and special Copies of this manual are available at no from System Sensor NFPA Standards 72 and 90A also be referenced for detailed information This manual should be left with the owner user this equipment This detector must be tested and maintained following NFPA 72 requirements The detector be cleaned at least once a year Description HVAC system supplies conditioned air to virtually every of a building Smoke introduced into this air duct sys will be distributed to the entire building Smoke detec designed for use in air duct systems are used to sense presence of smoke in the duct DH500ACDC Air Duct Detector Housings are used with Sensor s Model 1551 ionization detector heads and 2551 photoelectronic detector heads purchased sep These two smoke detection methods are combined an efficient housing design that samples air passing a duct and allows detection of a developing haz condition When sufficient smoke is sensed an signal is initiated at the fire control panel monitoring detector and appropriate action can be taken to shut off and blowers change over air handling systems etc can prevent the distribution of toxic smoke and fire throughout the areas served by the duct system 1 SAMPLING TUBE SEPARATELY HOLES DETECTOR Note 1 below for inlet tube and detector information BOARD DETECTOR TUBE BASE SCREWS ADAPTER HEAD SEPARATELY MAGNET TUBE DH500ACDCs are built to operate on 120 240 VAC or VAC DC Two form C SPDT relay contacts are available control purposes Two LEDs on each detector latch on provide a local alarm indication Remote alarm indica is made possible by using the auxiliary alarm output Figure 5 The duct detector can be tested and alarm be reset by using the correct respective code com from the panel See panel instructions for details Of The Duct Detector Housing Kit DH500ACDC Air Duct Detector Housings consist of the items See Figure 1 Complete housing base and cover assembly Two 10 sheet metal mounting screws Two sampling tube filters One test magnet Drilling template Two 5 16 inch O rings Two foam gaskets Four 6 self tapping mounting screws for the sampling One filter adapter One inlet tube end plug Two 10 speed nuts 1 The inlet sampling tube must be ordered separately must be the correct length for the width of the duct it will be installed See Table 1 to determine inlet tube required for different duct widths A detector head 1551 ionization or 2551 for must be ordered separately Sequence 1 Verify duct air flow direction and velocity 2 2 Drill the mounting holes 2 3 Mount duct housing 3 4 Install the inlet tube 3 5 Complete the field wiring 5 6 Install the filters 7 7 Perform detector check 7 8 Install the cover 9 9 Perform the final system check Testing 9 1 Verify Duct Air Flow Direction And Velocity DH500ACDCA is designed to be used in air handling having air velocities up to 500 feet per minute Be to check engineering specifications to ensure that the velocity in the duct falls within these parameters If nec use a velocity meter to check the air velocity in the 2 Drill The Mounting Holes the paper backing from the drilling template Affix template to the air duct at the desired mounting loca Make sure the template lies flat and smooth on the air Center punch hole targets and remove the template the holes as indicated on the template Slide the two nuts over the two small holes Hole A next to the tube bushing holes Hole B previously drilled in duct See Figure 2 of detectors mounted in or on air ducts should be least six duct widths downstream from any duct open deflection plates sharp bends or branch connections 2 Speed nut mounting location 2A Installation of foam gaskets over sam tube bushings SAMPLING BUSHING DETECTOR TUBE BUSHING GASKETS HOLES FOR ATTACHING HOUSING TO DUCT 4 Install The Inlet Tube inlet tube shown in Figure 3 is identified by a series air inlet holes on the tube This tube must be purchased Order the correct length as specified in Table 1 the width of the duct where it will be installed The tube is molded into the base of the duct housing inlet tube should be installed in the inlet sampling tube located in the center of the duct detector housing Figure 2A The air inlet holes must face into the air To assure proper installation the tube mounting is marked with arrows Mount the inlet tube so that arrows point into the air flow Figure 4 shows the vari combinations of duct detector and tube mounting con with respect to air flow B A Do not overtighten the screws Where it is physically impossible to locate the accordingly the detector can be positioned closer six duct widths but as far as possible from the open bend or deflection plates 3 Mount Duct Housing the duct housing cover Slide the foam gaskets over tube bushings as shown in Figure 2A Make sure the small holes in the gaskets line up with the two duct mounting holes Put one 5 16 inch O ring over of the two 10 sheet metal screws Use the two sheet screws to secure the duct housing to the duct 1 Sampling Inlet Tubes DUCT WIDTH to 2 ft to 4 ft to 8 ft to 12 ft to 0.6 m to 1.2 m to 2.4 m to 3.7 m 3 Air duct detector inlet sampling tube HOLES FACE AIR FLOW FLOW DIRECTION 4 Tube mounting configurations with varying air flow direction and orientation of detector housing as well as horizontal mounting is acceptable INDICATE POSITION OF TUBE HOLES FLOW FLOW MOUNTING OF HOUSING FLOW FLOW MOUNTING OF HOUSING
