Architects and Engineering Specification Advance Outdoor Horn Strobe outdoor horn strobe appliance shall be System Sensor model number outdoor series horn strobe shall be listed to UL 1638 UL 464 NEMA 4X and shall be approved for fire protective The horn strobe shall be wired as a primary signaling notification appliance and comply with the with Disabilities Act requirements for visible signaling appliances flashing at 1Hz over the entire operating voltage range The strobe shall have field selectable candela settings including 15 75 30 75 95 110 115 135 150 177 185 The strobe light shall consist of a xenon flash tube associated lens reflector system The horn shall have three audibility options and an option to switch a temporal three pattern and a non temporal continuous pattern These options are set by a position switch On four wire products the strobe shall be powered independently of the sounder horn on horn strobe models shall operate on a coded or non coded power supply horn strobes shall be listed for outdoor use by UL and shall operate between 40 and 151 products shall be listed for use with a System Sensor outdoor weatherproof back box with half inch three fourths inch conduit entries supplied with the device universal mounting plate shall be used for mounting ceiling and wall products The notification appliance wiring shall terminate at the universal mounting plate horn strobe and the Sync Module MDL3 accessory if used shall be powered from a non notification appliance circuit output and shall operate on a nominal 12 or 24 volts includes fire panels with built in sync When used with the Sync Module MDL3 12 volt rated notification circuit outputs shall operate between 8.5 and 17.5 volts 24 volt rated notification appliance outputs shall operate between 16.5 to 33 volts from a regulated DC or full wave rectified unfiltered supply If the notification appliances are not UL 9th edition listed with the corresponding panel or supply being used then refer to the compatibility listing of the panel to determine maximum devices a circuit horn strobe shall be plug in and shall have the ability to check wiring continuity via a shorting spring the universal mounting plate The shorting spring shall also provide tamper resistance via an open if the device is removed notification appliances shall be backward compatible
