Branchport Avenue Thank you for using our products Branch NJ 07740 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 631 2148 SERIES HS4 MULTI HIGH CANDELA FOUR WIRE APPLIANCES WALL AND CEILING MOUNT this product according to this instruction manual Please keep this instruction manual for future reference HS4 24MCWH and HS4 MCCH Multi High Candela Horn Strobes provide two selectable candela settings 135 185 and 115 177 respectively These models allow independent operation of the strobe circuit and the horn circuit It is the ideal choice for retrofit applications as well as new installations These models are UL Listed Standard 1971 for Signaling Appliances for the Hearing Impaired and UL Standard 464 for Audible Signal Appliances HS4 models are listed for indoor use only and be mounted to double gang 4 backbox 100mm European backbox or SHBB surface backbox See wiring and mounting information The HS4 24MCWH appliance is for wall mounting only HS4 24MCCH appliance is listed for ceiling mounting only The HS4 Multi High Candela appliances use a xenon flashtube with solid state enclosed in a polycarbonate lens to provide maximum visibility and reliability for effective visible signaling horn portion of the HS4 appliance can be field set to provide either a continuous horn when connected directly to the fire alarm control panel FACP or a synchronized 3 horn when used in conjunction with the Sync Module SM Dual Sync Module DSM or Wheelock power supplies The horn can be field set to provide either high dBA medium MED dBA or low LO dBA sound output The Code 3 temporal pattern 1 2 second on 1 2 second off 1 2 second on 1 2 second off 1 2 second on 1 1 2 off and repeat is specified by ANSI and NFPA 72 standard emergency evacuation signaling The Code 3 Horn should be used only for fire evacuation signaling and not for any other purpose models are designed for use with either filtered DC or unfiltered full wave rectified FWR input voltage All inputs are polarized for compatibility with standard reverse supervision of circuit wiring by an FACP PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CAUTIONS AND WARNINGS COULD RESULT IN IMPROPER APPLICATION CANDELA SETTING INSTALLATION AND OR OPERATION OF THESE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WHICH COULD RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE AND SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO YOU AND OR for indoor use with a temperature range of 32 to 120 0 to 49 and maximum humidity of 93 2 RH The effect of shipping storage temperatures shall not adversely affect the performance of the appliance when it is stored in the original cartons and not subjected to misuse or abuse CANDELA SETTING WILL DETERMINE THE CURRENT DRAW OF THE PRODUCT calculating the total current Use Tables 3 3A to determine the highest value of Current for an individual HS4 then multiply the value by the total number of Appliances Be sure to add the currents for any other appliances powered by the same source and to include any required safety factors The maximum number of strobes on a single notification appliance circuit shall not exceed 50 These notification appliances are UL Listed as They are intended to be used with FACPs whose notification circuits are UL Listed as These appliances shall not be used on UL Listed Application notification circuits unless the appliances are identified to be compatible in the installation of the FACP or unless the FACP is identified to be compatible in this instruction manual FOR UL APPLICATIONS THESE APPLIANCES WERE TESTED TO THE REGULATED VOLTAGE LIMITS OF 16.0 33.0
