Installation Instructions PLC 4 Limiting Module to the MME 3 or MLE 6 Power Limited Instructions P N 315 094883 or P N 315 as applicable for further information Use the PL 864S for strobe circuits Using the PL 864S for audio may damage the system Model PLC 4 from Siemens Industry Inc Figure 1 and its associated PL864 plug on See Figure 2 limit the power of the system to comply with UL 864 There are different PL864 boards that can plug onto four slots of the PLC 4 PL864 25A PL864 70A PL864 25S PL864 25A and the PL864 70A plug onto PLC 4 to limit power to audio circuits The plugs onto the PLC 4 to limit power strobe circuits the PL864 70A for 70.7V audio only PLC 4 plugs onto one of the OMM card connectors A single PLC 4 with four plug on boards can serve up to four and or strobe circuits PLC 4 and PL864 25A 70A audio cards do supervise themselves However since all power to the MXLV system passes them signal losses appear as troubles the ASC 1 2 modules 1 2 3 4 connector connector monitoring device can be wired to 11 and 12 of OMM 1 for strobe power there is either an audio or strobe loss follow procedure listed below Check the PLC 4 to see if the circuitbreaker tripped Shut down the system determine what the circuitbreaker to trip and fix the Reset the tripped circuitbreaker all system power before first battery and then AC power up connect the first and then the battery install a PLC 4 card in an MXLV system these steps the PL864 cards into the PLC 4 Determine which PL864 cards are to be Typically the audio portion of a fire alarm control panel either 25V RMS or 70.7V RMS Use the PL864 25A for 25V RMS Use the PL864 70A for 70.7V RMS Use the PL864 25S for strobe circuits any voice system The PL864 25S is not re for strobe circuits to either the or MMB Determine which circuits will be used to Figure 1 for the location of the on the PLC 4 board and to 5 for circuit wiring Remove the PLC 4 card from its protec bag Remove the PL864 25A PL864 25S or cards from their protective Place the PL864 plug on cards one at time over the connectors on the card for the desired circuits Locate P1 of each PL864 card near edge connector of the PLC 4 Refer to Figure 1 Press down until the card seats Apply pressure near the in the middle of the damage may result For systems with 70.7V RMS audio take extra care when placing cards for strobe circuits mixup could damage system Place the PLC 4 card in the OMM slot Do not install the card in its edge until all OMM field wiring is and checked for shorts and other faults Find the card slot key provided in the kit with the PLC 4 board Information wire size 14 AWG twisted pair wire size 18 AWG twisted pair ratings for each circuit at 25V RMS at 70.7V RMS amps at 24 VDC 96W the card slot key in the OMM connector for the PLC 4 as shown Figure 3 See Figure 4 for the exact of the key for this module The prevents installation of any other type in the PLC 4 slot Two other already installed in the OMM reverse installation of the card the OMM edge connectors See 4 Place the card in its card edge connector The components on the board face the 22 position terminal block the wiring is terminated Press card firmly in place to be sure it is properly in the edge connector all times handle all plug in cards with ex care When inserting or removing a be sure the position of the card is kept right angles to the OMM board Otherwise plug in card can damage or displace components to Figure 5 wiring must comply with and local codes the leads properly Maintain the proper and distances between the wiring that is limited terminals 15 22 and wiring that not power limited terminals 1 8 Refer to MME 3 or MLE 6 Power Limited Wiring P N 315 094883 or P N 315 as applicable for further information wiring for
